NYU Langone otolaryngologists, also called ear, nose, and throat (ENT) physicians, collaborate with audiologists who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing disorders. Our physicians and audiologists conduct sophisticated hearing tests to determine the type of hearing loss you鈥檙e experiencing and the cause of your symptoms.

Based on the results of hearing tests, your doctor explains the available treatment options and partners with you to make a decision about which treatments are most likely to enhance your life. Our experts understand that hearing loss affects people in many different ways and that the decision to pursue treatment is a personal one.

Treatment for Hearing Loss

Depending on the cause, hearing loss can sometimes be treated with medication or with assistive devices such as hearing aids. If hearing loss is caused by an anatomical condition, our doctors may recommend surgery to help restore your hearing. Surgeons at NYU Langone鈥檚 Cochlear Implant Center are among the most experienced in the country and perform an average of 180 of these surgeries each year.
